Choosing a tray material
The base material changes feel, noise, and portability.
- Leatherette: quiet, wipes clean, folds flat — the best all-rounder.
- Felt-lined wood: quietest and most premium, but bulky.
- Silicone: nearly indestructible and very quiet, but heavier.
- Hard plastic: cheap and stackable, but loud.
Size it to your dice count
Match the tray to the most dice you throw at once. One or two dice need only a small tray; dice-chucking games like dungeon crawlers want a larger one so dice don't pile up and re-roll off each other, which makes results hard to read and skews the throw.
